Opening of the New Office Building at Drake Memorial Park

This morning, John Ware and Shaun Harrison were honoured to be invited to the official opening of the new office building at Drake Memorial Park.

The new office and vehicle access to the cemetery is now through the “Plymouth Crematorium at The Park” entrance at 205 Merafield Road, Plympton, Plymouth, PL7 1UQ.

Drake Memorial Park is a family-run concern currently in its third generation and it was a pleasure to meet members of the second and third generations of the family as they unveiled a plaque to commemorate the new offices, before cutting the ribbon to officially open the new premises.

The cemetery opened in 1943 as one of the first lawn cemeteries in the country. Drake Memorial Park is unique in that graves are permanently identified with simple plaques which lie flat in the ground (rather than headstones) and all burial rights are in perpetuity, meaning that individual graves and the wider Memorial Park will be maintained forever, with no ongoing annual charges.
