Saltash Funeral Directors Pengelly Funeral Service was formed by Peter Pengelly in 1982 at Landrake, moving to Saltash in 1986.

In 2007, Peter entrusted his business to Walter C. Parson, a family business originating from Stoke Climsland, Cornwall. Today, our dedicated team, headed by David Fowell, ensures that Peter’s exemplary standards are upheld.

Situated in the heart of Saltash shopping centre, this property was the ideal location to serve the local community of Cornwall, and was extensively refurbished  in June 2007. David and Ayesha also serve the Torpoint office.

Our Saltash office serves Saltash, Hatt, Landrake, Tideford, St Germans and the surrounding areas.

If you wish to see your loved one before they are. Interred these are not for you. The way our requests were dealt with from start to finish was atrocious. First off the girl, I won't say her name, took all details down from casket to flowers. The fact he would need a large coffin as he was a large man, She informed us she was going away for two weeks which was fine, the problem being no one was given instructions from her about the funeral, we got a call from the coroner asking when he would be collected. As far as we were concerned he already had it had been at least 2 weeks. We rang the office and got advised no one had left any details, they must of got their wires crossed we were told. Not acceptable, stress kicked in when we got another call from the coroner saying they had been but not collected him. On calling again he was collected. The family had been waiting for updates so they could come down to see him, that wasn't happening as we were told viewing would not be advised and that after all he would now fit in a regular size coffin. He had been left that long the family were denied their last goodbye face to face because he hadn't been embalmed which they said they would take off the bill after being asked if they thought the way this was dealt with was appropriate. We were then asked if we had arranged flowers, well we had with her she obviously hadn't sorted that either, this was the week of the funeral we had waited over 5-6 weeks for. We asked for the marines badge in flowers. Didn't turn up. It was a farce and very stressful for the whole family, we thought you paid to take the stress from the family. That's not the way it happened. Obviously this wasn't made common knowledge as we never received any apology whatsoever. They took away moments that could never be gotten back. Never again.
It is always a difficult time organizing a funeral for a loved one but David and his team dealt with every query with kindness and professionalism. Thank you for making everything so easy. We were so happy with the send off we were able to give mum and you were an integral part of that. Thank you
David and his amazing team at Saltash have been absolutely amazing. My dear Mum was given the utmost care and respect, and they were all so kind on the day. I felt lonely and sad, but the team treated me so well I could not have asked for anything more. Thank you so much.Susie x
After the loss of my wife and soul mate of 31 years and whilst going through so much personal turmoil, Ayesha and the team at Pengelly were sympathetic and compassionate and at the same time respectfully guided me through the arrangements making sure everything went as smoothly as possible, I can’t thank them enough.
We cannot fault David and his caring team of individuals. My Grandad knew David and my family knew he would be the one for supporting us with this difficult time and day. David's team supported the whole family in the lead up to the day, on the day and after. Thank you everyone for your time and dedication to my family. Rachel on behalf on The White Family.
Ayesha and her team did an amazing job for my Nans funeral. They made sure everything was how we wanted and went above and beyond to make sure the day went smoothly. I cannot thank them enough.
I cannot thank David Fowell and his amazing team enough at Pengelly Funeral Service in Saltash with regard to the organising of my late husband's funeral, Chris Evans (25/08/21).From start to finish David and his team showed compassion, professionalism and above all respect to Chris and myself. Nothing was too much trouble and I felt safe knowing that my husband was in good hands.Ayesha and Maureen are also a credit to your company and I will be for ever thankful for their help with sourcing the music required for the service etc.All of our family and friends commented on how good David and the team were, pure brilliance!! I will undoubtingly recommend David and the team at Pengelly Funeral Services every time. Thank you x
