Alice Miriam (nee Mulligan)
Born in May 1943, the eldest child of Mr and Mrs James F. Mulligan of Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Alice graduated from Melrose High School and Merrimack College, in Massachusetts, and enjoyed a career as a teacher and reading specialist.
From childhood Alice had an attraction to England and moved across in the early 80s, where she met and married Ken Truscott, the love of her life. The couple lived in Bittaford, near Ivybridge in Devon.
Alice was an active member of St. Austin’s Priory, Ivybridge and keen participant and volunteer in several organisations including the National Women’s Register, the Catholic Women’s League, the Memory Café, U3A, the DAR, the SPUC, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, World Day of Prayer, and Age Concern.
Alice died suddenly at home in Bittaford on 22nd March 2023, and is survived by sisters Helyn and Susan; brother Jake; nieces Meredith and Allison; her late husband’s daughters Catherine, Fiona, and Barbara and son Desmond; and grandchildren Daniel, Ashley, Laura, Emily, Nathan, Jordan and Liam.
Alice was deeply loved by family and friends and will be missed immeasurably.
Funeral Mass to be held at St. Austin’s Priory, Ivybridge on Friday 28th April at 10.00am, thence reception at The Imperial Inn, Ivybridge.
