NewsTorpointSt James Church Annual Christmas Tree FestivalSt James Church Annual Christmas Tree Festival St James church in Torpoint have their popular annual Christmas tree event, bringing a variety of Christmas trees into the church, whilst raising funds for St James Church and the fantastic work they do.When we heard that Reverend Cannon Lynn Parker was searching for a large tree for the nativity to be placed under, we wanted to help. Our resident funeral director David Fowell spent many hours searching for an artificial tree that would be in keeping of the churches theme of simplicity. A few cluster lights and simple decorations spiral like a journey up to the highest point. Putting the tree up was a little tricky, conveniently David had a week off which meant his assistant funeral director Ayesha and colleague Tony were left to piece together the 9ft artificial tree. All seemed to be going smoothly until both realised that their height was a little less than needed to complete the puzzle. With the assistance of Reverend Lynn, Jane Kent the church warden and a sturdy step ladder the task in hand was completed. A table was added for good measure and the tree stood proudly on top. Now at 12ft.Pictured is Rev’d Lynn and David standing proudly next to the tree donated by Pidgen and Son (and the complimentary chocolates-don’t miss out). The Christmas tree festival has 50+ Christmas trees on display and will be running until 9th December and you can vote for your favourite tree.
