NewsCovid-19 Update – 19th MarchCovid-19 Update – 19th March Funerals are beginning to be impacted by the social distancing guidelines from Public Health England.Essentially, attendance at funerals should be limited to immediate family members in single figures, but the guidelines from each Crematorium and Church are as follows:Weston Mill Crematorium, Plymouth – 30 mourners, 3 per alternate pew.Torquay Crematorium – 10 mourners.Church of England – closed for public worship. Funerals with attendance of less than 10 people can go ahead in church, at the crematorium or graveside.Roman Catholic Church – services at the graveside or crematorium only with single figure attendance.Baptist Union – closed for public worship. Funerals with attendance of less than 10 people can go ahead in church, at the Crematorium or graveside.Methodist Church – closed for public worship. At the time of writing, we are still in a position to arrange a funeral, with family attendance, which meets the guidelines above. However, the situation is changing rapidly and there is a possibility that plans may need to be changed or altered at short notice. One option to consider if a member of your family is particularly vulnerable, is to have a No Service Cremation, with no family in attendance, with a memorial service to be arranged at a later date. The memorial service would proceed in a very similar manner to a funeral, but with a casket containing the ashes taking the place of the coffin. We will keep you updated via our website and social media as soon as we have any further updates.19th March, 1.30pm.
